We invite you to attend the first annual “Norwood Park Grease Lighting Carnival” sponsored by the Norwood Park Chamber of Commerce and its partners, Norwood Park District Advisory Council and Taft High School Foundation; an event to celebrate 75 years of excellence at Taft High School on August 21th, through August 24th, 2014.
The four-day “Grease” themed rock-n-roll carnival will attract residents and visitors to Norwood Park to help celebrate the school’s 75th anniversary, raise funds to restore the Taft Campus and for Norwood Park District improvements. We thank the generous local sponsors of the Carnival; Taft High School Foundation, Union Pacific, Presence Resurrection Medical Center, Neighborhood Remodelers, Lisa Sanders from Dream Town Realty, Pat Riordan from Riordan Insurance, State Representative Michael McAuliffe, Norwood Crossing, Superdawg Drive-In, Mullarkey Distributors and P&K Research.
The site of the carnival is on the Norwood Park District grounds at 5801 N. Natoma between Taft High School and the park on Hurlbut Street, from Natoma to Avondale. We encourage visitors to use public transportation, walk or bike to the Norwood Park District. Hurlbut Street will be closed between Natoma and Northcott to allow for trucks, beer garden and classic cars. Taft High School parking lots will be offering parking at $10 per vehicle and will be managed by the Taft NJROTC units, accepting cash only.
Hours of the Carnival are: Thursday 5-10pm, Friday 5-11pm, Saturday 1-11pm, & Sunday 1 to 7pm. Pre-sale “MEGA PASS”wrist bands sales are available through 8/20/14 for $65, after that date price for MEGA PASS will be $75 “Mega Pass” allows you to ride as many rides as you want every day of the event from open until close.
Daily wrist bands and individual ride tickets can be purchased at the Carnival only. Tickets are $1 each and wrist bands will be sold for $25 for unlimited rides only at certain times during the Carnival: Thursday 5-9pm, Friday 5-9pm, Saturday 1-5pm and Sunday 1-5pm. Ride fees range from 3 tickets to 6 tickets each.
The Classic Car show is 8/23 Saturday and 8/24 Sunday from 1 to 5pm. Gift Certificate Prizes awarded for the “best GREASE” themed vehicle and riders! The Carnival will present Windy City Amusements’ famed rides—the Carousel, the Tilt-A-Whirl, Tea Cups, Speedway and other attractions, games of chance and food. Live music on Friday & Saturday, a beer garden and food trucks.
