Join Us in Honoring Our Veterans at the Memorial Day Parade and Tribute Ceremony !
***NORWOOD PARK MEMORIAL DAY PARADE ROUTE CHANGE***
Due to some unforeseen circumstances with street conditions, the route of the Parade on Monday, 5/27/13 has changed. We apologize about the inconvenience! Here is the new route schedule:
Parade starts at Onahan School (6634 W. Raven St) at 11am
Travel west on Raven (crossing the railroad tracks) to Avondale
Continue south on Avondale to Nina
Turn right & travel south on Nina to Nickerson
Turn left & travel south on Nickerson (which turns into Ardmore).
Continue east to Natoma
Turn right & travel south on Natoma to Hurlbut
Turn left & travel east on Hurlbut to Taft High School (6545 W Hurlbut St)

Directly after the parade, (approx: 12:30pm) join us at Taft High School for a Memorial Day Tribute Ceremony outside honoring the men and women who have served for our country. Speakers include Alderman O'Connor and Rep. Jan Schakowsky and Honorable heroes who will share their memorial stories, raise the flag and pay a special tribute to all of these men & women.
This year our parade will have a special appearance by the Bagpipes & Drums of the Emerald Society CPD! Thank you to Commissioner Peter Silvestri Cook County Commissioner for your support as well as Robert Martwick & Michael McAuliffe-State Reps and Senator John Mulroe!
This years Parade Marshalls is Nick Spencer. He served the 101st Airborne Division and a Co. 3Bn 502nd INF. in Fort Campbell, KY. Served in the Berlin Brigade (110 Miles behind enemy lines, patrolled along the Berlin Wall, gathering intelligence from East Germans and Russian for 3 years). He also served the Combat Support Company 6Bn 502nd in Berlin, Germany.
We ask that your group, school or community organization join us in making this years parade a tribute to those who served for our freedom. Any donation, no matter how big or small is highly valuable and greatly appreciated as it increases the overall value to participants and volunteers and helps us offset expenses.
